Using your Fidelis Care benefits
Phoenix Health is in-network with Fidelis Care in New York, a Catholic health plan that primarily serves Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Qualified Health Plan members across New York State. Fidelis is one of the largest Medicaid managed care organizations in New York, and it covers mental health as an essential benefit. Our PMH-C certified therapists work with Fidelis members on postpartum depression, perinatal anxiety, birth trauma, and other perinatal mental health concerns. If you have Fidelis through Medicaid, your outpatient therapy visits are typically covered with little or no copay. Behavioral health is a required benefit under New York's Medicaid program, and New York's mental health parity law is among the strongest in the country. For Marketplace (QHP) Fidelis members, mental health coverage follows the ACA essential benefits structure with a deductible and copay. Some Fidelis plans require a referral or prior authorization for specialty mental health services. Before your first session, we verify your specific Fidelis benefits and handle any prior authorization requirements on your behalf. New York State also has strong telehealth parity law, which means video therapy sessions must be covered the same as in-person visits. If you have questions about your Fidelis coverage, call member services at the number on your card and ask about outpatient behavioral health and telehealth benefits specifically.
Does Fidelis Care cover therapy for this?
Insurance covers therapy when it treats a diagnosed mental health condition, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders qualify. Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, a Fidelis Care plan cannot apply stricter visit limits or higher cost-sharing to behavioral health than it applies to comparable medical care. What the plan will not do is pay for sessions billed with no diagnosis at all, which is why your first session includes an assessment.
Phoenix Health is in-network with Fidelis Care in New York, so we bill the plan directly and you pay only your copay or coinsurance. Fidelis Medicaid and Child Health Plus members typically pay little or nothing for outpatient therapy. Essential Plan members pay a small fixed copay. Marketplace (QHP) members follow the standard ACA deductible-then-copay structure. New York's parity law is among the strongest in the country and its telehealth parity statute means a video session must be covered on the same terms as an in-person one.
Checking it yourself: Call the behavioral health number on the back of your card and ask three questions: is this provider in-network for outpatient behavioral health, what is my specialist copay, and has my deductible been met? We do this verification for you before your first session at no charge.
Your card might say any of these — all of them are Fidelis Care:

âś“ Benefits verified upfront
We confirm your copay and deductible before your first session, at no charge.
âś“ Telehealth covered
Your plan covers virtual sessions at the same rate as in-person specialist visits.

From our founder
When I had my first child, I was shocked by the challenges I faced as a new mother.
Like so many women, the shame of postpartum depression and anxiety kept me silent for nearly two years. When I began working with postpartum clients, I was struck by how many stories were so similar to my own.
I founded Phoenix Health to make it easier for new mothers like me to find the right help.

Stories that may sound familiar
These are examples, not client reviews. We don't publish our clients' words. What's said in therapy stays there.
“My emergency C-section left me with nightmares and panic attacks. I couldn't talk about the birth without shaking. Therapy helped me process the trauma and reclaim my story. I'm pregnant again now, and I actually feel ready.”
“I had intrusive thoughts that terrified me. I was too ashamed to tell anyone, even my partner. My therapist explained postpartum OCD and helped me understand I wasn't dangerous. The intrusive thoughts are 90% gone now. I wish I'd reached out sooner.”
“After three failed IVF rounds, I was told to just stay positive. My therapist was the first person who acknowledged the grief, the anger, and the exhaustion, and helped me process what I had been through. I finally felt seen.”
